About Career Ignition

Career Ignition was created to bring clarity and structure to pivotal career moments.

Across more than 30 years working in complex global organisations, I repeatedly saw capable people struggle, not because they lacked ability but because they lacked the language to express what they were truly good at.

Career Ignition exists to change that.

The Philosophy

Why a Strengths Approach?

Most career advice focuses on fixing weaknesses or providing templates. I believe that sustainable fulfilment and engagement come from understanding and using what you naturally do well.

Strengths show up in how you think, solve problems, communicate and respond under pressure.

Career Ignition helps you identify:

  • What you naturally do well.

  • Where you consistently create value.

  • What patterns show up when you perform at your best.

  • When you are most energised, fulfilled and genuinely engaged in your work.

When you spend more time doing what you’re naturally good at, work feels more meaningful and sustainable. Confidence grows, performance improves, and direction becomes clearer.

About the Founder

30 Years HR Leadership | Board-Level Experience | Global Organisations | Multiple Sectors | Gallup Certified Strengths Coach | Leadership Development Expertise

My own career evolved from Finance into HR and later into organisational and leadership development. That progression reinforced something important: career direction is rarely about starting again; it is about recognising patterns of strength and repositioning them intentionally.

Over three decades, I have recruited and interviewed extensively from shop-floor roles to Board-level appointments. I have seen exceptional capability hidden behind modest language. I have seen talented people overlooked because they could not clearly express the value they brought.

That experience shapes Career Ignition.

Career progression is not simply about writing a better CV or practising interview answers. It is about building genuine clarity, confidence rooted in evidence, and the ability to articulate what you naturally do well in a way that employers understand.

Careers do not change because people reinvent themselves. They change when people understand their strengths — and learn how to position them with intention.

Career Ignition was built to provide structured, strengths-based support that goes deeper than surface-level advice and leads to lasting professional confidence.

Alan is thoughtful, encouraging, and incredibly perceptive. I’d highly recommend him to anyone looking to gain clarity, confidence, and direction in their career.

My Role in your Journey

I take a supportive but challenging approach. I am not an instructor, I am your partner.

We agree the route together and review each step as we go, ensuring your next move is deliberate and aligned.

Most people already sense the right direction for them. My role is to help you clarify it, articulate it, and act on it with confidence.

Career Ignition combines strengths insight, structured reflection and practical action.

At every stage, the focus is the same; clarity first then confident movement forward.
